Neeraj Chopra PVSM: Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won India’s first gold medal in athletics in Tokyo Olympics, will be given the Param Vishisht Seva Medal by the Indian Army on the occasion of Republic Day.
Neeraj Chopra PVSM: Olympian Neeraj Chopra has been awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal by President Ram Nath Kovind on the eve of Republic Day. Neeraj Chopra is the first track and field athlete to win a gold medal for India at the Olympics.
Neeraj Chopra was enrolled in the Indian Army in 2016 as a direct enlistment of Naib Subedar in 4 Rajputana Rifles. He was selected for training at Mission Olympic Wing and Army Sports Institute in Pune.
This time the country is celebrating its 73rd Republic Day. Military awards have been announced on the eve of this. In this, Neeraj was also announced to be rewarded with PVSM for his outstanding contribution in the field of sports.

Param Vishisht Seva Medal:
Param Vishisht Seva Medal is a military award of India, which is given for the most exceptional work for peace and in the field of service. Chopra is a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and a rare Subedar in the Rajputana Rifles of the Indian Army.
