The Lucknow team, which participated for the first time in the Indian Premier League 2022, has announced its name. Sanjeev Goenka Group announced the name of its team ‘Lucknow Super Giants’ on its Twitter handle on 24 January 2022.
The Lucknow franchise had already announced the official appointment of KL Rahul as their captain. Gautam Gambhir has already joined the team as a mentor. The Lucknow team has been named as one of the two franchises to participate in the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
RP-Sanjeev Goenka Group has bought the Lucknow franchise for Rs 7090 crore. At the same time, CVC Capital Partners has bought the Ahmedabad franchise for Rs 5625 crore.
