 Delhi Lockdown: After the arrival of the new variant of Corona, Omicron, Yellow Alert i.e. the first level of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been implemented in Delhi at present, which can now be changed to Red Alert.

Delhi Lockdown: There may be complete lockdown in Delhi?

Delhi Lockdown: Corona cases are increasing in Delhi after the arrival of the new variant of Corona, Omicron. According to the data released on 03 January 2022, 4099 new cases of corona have been registered in the capital Delhi in 24 hours. Due to which the infection rate of corona in Delhi has reached about 6.5%.

After the arrival of the new variant of Corona, Omicron, Yellow Alert i.e. the first level of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been implemented in Delhi at present, which can now be changed to Red Alert. The Delhi government had already clarified that if the infection rate of corona goes above 5 per cent, then the red alert of GRAP will be applicable.

According to the Graded Response Action Plan, if the infection rate in Delhi goes above 5 per cent and remains on it for two consecutive days, or else there are up to 16 thousand cases in a day or 3 thousand beds are filled in the hospital. If so, in this situation a red alert will be implemented in the capital Delhi.

If a red alert is implemented in Delhi then a complete curfew will be implemented, under which all establishments will be closed. Health Minister Satyendar Jain has told that out of all the cases of corona being reported in the last 2 days, 84 per cent of the cases are of the Omicron variant.

What will be the restrictions if there is a red alert in Delhi? 

  • Schools, educational institutions will be completely closed.
  • Swimming pools and all stadiums will be closed.
  • Religious places will remain open, but devotees will not be allowed to visit them.
  • Only 15 people will be able to attend weddings.
  • There will be a complete ban on cultural, social, political, entertainment and other programs.
  • Government and private offices will remain closed. Whereas, government offices related to essential services will be opened with full capacity.
  • Cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes, banquet halls, auditoriums, assembly halls will remain closed.
  • All including barbershops, salons, beauty parlours, spas and wellness clinics, gyms, yoga institutes, entertainment parks, amusement parks, water parks will remain closed.
  • Interstate buses will be allowed to run with only 50 percent capacity.
