Renowned Kannada cinema star Puneeth, the youngest of five children of thespian and matinee idol Dr Rajkumar, died of a heart attack on October 29 at the age of 46.
Recently, Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar has been posthumously awarded the Basavashree Award 2021 by Bruhanmutt. Puneet Rajkumar was affectionately called Appu, who was born on March 17, 1975, in Chennai. He was an actor, playback singer, television presenter and producer.
Punit, son of matinee idol prince, was the lead actor in 29 films and appeared in many more films as a child. The award honours people for their services to society in their respective fields by following the principles of Lord Basaveshwara.
It is being presented by Chitradurga Bruhanmutt since 1997. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a memento. PT Usha (2009), Malala Yousafzai (2014), P Sainath (2016), Dr K Kasturirangan (2020) have won this award in recent times.

मैटिनी आइडल राजकुमार के बेटे पुनीत 29 फिल्मों में मुख्य अभिनेता थे और एक बच्चे के रूप में और कई फिल्मों में दिखाई दिए। यह पुरस्कार भगवान बसवेश्वर के सिद्धांतों का पालन करके लोगों को उनके संबंधित क्षेत्रों में समाज की सेवाओं के लिए सम्मानित करता है।
यह चित्रदुर्गा ब्रुहनमुट्ट (Chitradurga Bruhanmutt) द्वारा 1997 से प्रस्तुत किया जा रहा है। पुरस्कार में 5 लाख रुपये नकद और एक स्मृति चिन्ह शामिल है। पीटी उषा (2009), मलाला युसुफ़ज़ई (2014), पी साईनाथ (2016), डॉ के कस्तूरीरंगन (2020) ने हाल के दिनों में यह पुरस्कार जीता है|
