Vijayanagar Becomes 31st District of Karnataka
Recently, the Karnataka government has issued an official gazette notification declaring Vijayanagar as the 31st district of the state. The new district Vijayanagar is separated from Bellary, which is named after the ancient Vijayanagar empire.
There will be six tehsils (taluka) in Vijayanagar district and Hospet will be its headquarters. The new district will have Kudligi, Hagaribommanahalli, Kotturu, Hospet, Hovina Hadagali and Harpanahalli tehsils (Taluk).
- UNESCO World Heritage Site Hampi will include the prestigious cluster of monuments in Vijayanagar.
- On November 18 last year, the state cabinet gave in-principle approval for the formation of Vijayanagara district.

(विजयनगर जिले में छह तहसील (तालुका) होंगी और होसपेट इसका मुख्यालय होगा | नए जिले में कुडलिगि, हगारिबोम्मानाहल्ली, कोट्टुरू, होसपेट, होविना हदगली और हर्पनहल्ली तहसील (तालुक) होंगी |)
- यूनेस्को का विश्व धरोहर स्थल हम्पी में स्मारकों के प्रतिष्ठित क्लस्टर विजयनगर मे शामिल होंगे |
- पिछले साल 18 नवंबर को राज्य मंत्रिमंडल ने विजयनगर जिले के गठन को सैद्धांतिक मंजूरी दी थी।
