DCGI approves use of Covid-19 vaccine by SII and Bharat Biotech

Recently, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has given formal final approval for emergency use of Oxford-AstraZeneca’s “Covishield” and Bharat Biotech’s “Covaxin” vaccines for coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has accepted the recommendations of the Subject Expert Committee on Serum and Bharat Biotech Covid Vaccines.

(केंद्रीय औषधि मानक नियंत्रण संगठन (CDSCO) ने ने सीरम और भारत बायोटेक कोविड टीकों पर गठित विषय विशेषज्ञ समिति की सिफारिशें स्वीकार कर लिया है।)

The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) under CDSCO recommended the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, which is being made by the Serum Institute of India (SII), for emergency use under the name Covishield and covaxine for restricted use.

(CDSCO के अधीन विषय विशेषज्ञ समिति (एसईसी) ने ऑक्सफोर्ड-एस्ट्राजेनेका के वैक्सीन की सिफारिश की थी, जिसे सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया (एसआईआई) द्वारा Covishield के नाम से आपातकालीन उपयोग के लिए और कोवाक्सिन को प्रतिबंधित उपयोग के लिए बनाया जा रहा है।)

Covaxin is an indigenous vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
