BSF celebrated 58th Raising Day on 01 December
Border Security Force (BSF) is going to celebrate its 58th Raising Day this year on 01 December 2022. The BSF was formed on 1 December 1965 as a unified central agency to ensure the security of India’s borders and matters connected therewith after the Indo-Pak and Indo-China wars. It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces of the Union of India and stands as the largest border-guarding force in the world. BSF has been called the first line of defense of Indian territories. The motto of BSF is “Duty Till Life”. The annual budget of BSF is around Rs 17,118 crore.

Border Security Force (BSF)

The Border Security Force (BSF) guards India’s borders, also known as the first line of border defense of Indian territory. It guards the Indian border with Pakistan and Bangladesh. The objective of BSF was to ensure the security of the borders of the country. This creation was done by the merger of several State Armed Police Battalions. It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces of the country, controlled by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
 
Its main task is to protect the borders of the country during peace. BSF is the largest border-guarding force in the world. It has 186 battalions, with a sanctioned strength of 2,57,363 personnel. It also includes Air Wing, Marine Wing, Artillery Regiment, and Commando Unit. The BSF is deployed along the Indo-Pak International Border, the Indo-Bangladesh International Border, and the Line of Control along with the Indian Army. It also serves in anti-Naxal operations.
