First paperless court: Kerala High Court has become the first paperless court in India. Under which Supreme Court Judge Justice DY Chandrachud has inaugurated the Smart Court Room on January 1, 2022. In its first phase, six courts including the chamber of the Chief Justice will be converted into smart courts. Also, the case file will be made available to the lawyers on the computer screen.

What is paperless court and how will it work:

A paperless court is a court that functions without physical paper. Where all judges work rely on digital court records. In the first phase of the process of making a paperless court, the courtroom is converted into a smart court. The case files are then made available to the lawyers in these courts on the computer screen in front of them. Also, copies of documents can be viewed on the computer placed before the opposing side and the judge. E-courts have also played a big role in making courts paperless.
