Mahaparinirvan Diwas 2021: Every year on 6th December, the death anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is celebrated as Mahaparinirvan Diwas. Babasaheb Ambedkar died on 6 December 1956. On this day every year, lakhs of people visit the Samadhi of Bhimrao Ambedkar in Mumbai. Which is also called Chaitya land.

Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar had a very important contribution to the making of the constitution. Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar had to face discrimination in his life. He kept fighting with the evils of society throughout his life.

What is Parinirvana?

Parinirvana is one of the main principles and goals of Buddhism. It literally means ‘nirvana after death. According to Buddhism, one who attains Nirvana will be free from worldly desires and the pains of life and he will be free from the cycle of life i.e. he will not be born again and again.

Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar had studied Buddhism for years. After that, he adopted Buddhism on October 14, 1956. Along with him, about 5 lakh of his supporters also adopted Buddhism.

Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar had a very important contribution to the making of the constitution. In view of his contribution, Ambedkar is called the father of the Constitution of India. He was the first law and justice minister of independent India and is regarded as the chief architect of the Constitution of India.

 Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar received his doctorate from Columbia University in the year 1916 and was the first Indian to achieve this feat. In the year 1990, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour.
