Tokyo Olympics 2020: Indian women’s boxer Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) has lost to world champion boxer Busenaj Surmenelli in her semi-final match at the Olympic Games being played in Tokyo, Japan.
Lovlina had already assured India its maiden boxing medal in the ongoing Olympic Games when she defeated the former world champion from Taiwan, Nien-Chin Chen, to enter the semi-finals.
With this defeat, Lovlina had to be content with the bronze medal in the Olympics and her dream of winning gold for the country remained unfulfilled. Busenaj dominated Lovlina throughout the match as she defeated the Indian boxer 5-0.
This is India’s third medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 Games. Earlier, Mirabai Chanu won silver in weightlifting while PV Sindhu won the bronze medal in badminton. Lovlina’s medal is India’s first medal in Olympic boxing in the last nine years. Earlier in the year 2012 London Olympics star boxer, Mary Kom won the bronze medal. At the same time, in men’s boxing, Vijender Singh won the bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics in the year 2008.

(टोक्यो ओलंपिक 2020 खेलों में यह भारत का तीसरा पदक है| इससे पहले वेटलिफ्टिंग में मीराबाई चानू ने सिल्वर जबकि बैडमिंटन में पीवी सिंधू ने ब्रॉन्ज मेडल जीता| लवलीना का पदक पिछले 9 सालों में भारत का ओलंपिक मुक्केबाजी में पहला पदक है| इससे पहले साल 2012 लंदन ओलंपिक में स्टार बॉक्सर मैरीकॉम ने ब्रॉन्ज मेडल जीता था| वहीं, पुरुष बॉक्सिंग में विजेंदर सिंह ने साल 2008 में बीजिंग ओलंपिक में ब्रॉन्ड मेडल जीता था|)
