After the recommendation of the collegium, 9 new judges have been appointed in the Supreme Court. It also includes three women judges.
Supreme Court: Recently, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana administered the oath of office to nine new judges, including three women, as judges of the Supreme Court. After the swearing-in of nine new judges, the number of judges in the Supreme Court, including the CJI, will increase to 33.
Three of the nine new judges – Justice Vikram Nath and Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice PS Narasimha – are in line to become the Chief Justice of India.
This is the first time in the history of the apex court that nine judges have taken oath together. Traditionally, new judges take the oath of office in the CJI’s courtroom, but due to the COVID pandemic, the swearing-in ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Supreme Court’s additional building complex.
These 9 became judges of the Supreme Court:
– Justice Vikram Nath
– Justice J.K. Maheshwari
– Justice Hima Kohli
– Justice B.V. Nagaratna
– Justice C. T. Ravikumar
– Justice M.M. sundaresh
Justice Bela M Trivedi
– Justice PS Narasimha
Today the Supreme Court has got three new women judges, in which Karnataka High Court’s third-senior Justice Nagarathna, besides Gujarat High Court’s fifth-senior Justice Bela M Trivedi and Telangana High Court Chief Justice Hima Kohli have also been made Supreme Court judges.
हाल ही मे, भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश (CJI) एनवी रमना द्वारा तीन महिलाओं सहित नौ नए न्यायाधीशों को सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश के रूप में पद की शपथ दिलाई है| नौ नए न्यायाधीशों के शपथ ग्रहण के बाद सुप्रीम कोर्ट मे सीजेआई सहित न्यायाधीशों की संख्या 33 हो जाएगी|
नौ नए न्यायाधीशों में से तीन – न्यायमूर्ति विक्रम नाथ और न्यायमूर्ति बीवी नागरत्न और न्यायमूर्ति पीएस नरसिम्हा – भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश बनने की कतार में हैं|
यह पहली बार है जब शीर्ष अदालत के इतिहास में नौ न्यायाधीशों ने एक साथ शपथ ली हो| परंपरागत रूप से, नए न्यायाधीश सीजेआई के कोर्ट रूम में पद की शपथ लेते हैं, लेकिन कोविड महामारी के कारण, शपथ ग्रहण समारोह सुप्रीम कोर्ट के अतिरिक्त भवन परिसर के सभागार में आयोजित किया गया|

आज सुप्रीम कोर्ट को तीन नई महिला जज मिली हैं जिनमे कर्नाटक हाईकोर्ट की तीसरी सबसे वरिष्ठतम न्यायाधीश नागरत्ना के अलावा गुजरात उच्च न्यायालय की पांचवीं सबसे वरिष्ठ न्यायाधीश बेला एम त्रिवेदी और तेलंगाना उच्च न्यायालय की मुख्य न्यायाधीश हिमा कोहली को भी उच्चतम न्यायालय का जज बनाया गया है|
