APJ Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. Abdul Kalam was the youngest of five siblings. His father was a ferryman who used to ferry Hindu pilgrims. While his mother was a housewife. APJ Abdul Kalam died on 27 July 2015 in Shillong, Meghalaya.
APJ Abdul Kalam has been honoured with prestigious civilian awards – Padma Bhushan (1981), Padma Vibhushan (1990), and the highest civilian award in India – Bharat Ratna (1997). Abdul Kalam was the third President of India to be awarded the Bharat Ratna.

एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम का जन्म 15 अक्टूबर 1931 को तमिलनाडु के रामेश्वरम में हुआ| अब्दुल कलाम पांच भाई-बहनों में सबसे छोटे थे| उनके पिता एक नौका चालक थे, जो हिंदू तीर्थयात्रियों को लाने जाने का काम करते थे| जबकि उनकी मां एक गृहिणी थीं| एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम का निधन 27 जुलाई 2015 को मेघालय के शिलांग में हुआ था|
एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम को प्रतिष्ठित नागरिक पुरस्कार- पद्म भूषण (1981), पद्म विभूषण (1990) और भारत में सर्वोच्च नागरिक पुरस्कार- भारत रत्न (1997) से सम्मानित किया जा चुका है| अब्दुल कलाम भारत रत्न से सम्मानित होने वाले भारत के तीसरे राष्ट्रपति थे|
