The Gomti River Front project was the dream project of former Chief Minister Akhilesh. Akhilesh Yadav inaugurated this project on 16 November 2016. A huge budget of 1500 crores was also fixed for the Gomti River Front.
Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at 43 places in Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Agra in connection with alleged irregularities in the Gomti River Front project in Lucknow. Keep in mind that this project was operated during the previous Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh.
According to CBI officials, around 180 officials have been named as accused in the FIR, including a large number of Uttar Pradesh government engineers and other officials. This is the second FIR registered by the CBI in connection with the said project.
Assembly elections are going to be held in Uttar Pradesh next year in which the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav as well as Congress and other opposition parties will try to remove the Bharatiya Janata Party from the power of the state.

It is alleged that widespread irregularities were committed in the Gomti River Front Development Project worth Rs 1,513 crore.
