Retired Supreme Court Justice Arun Kumar Mishra was recently elected as the new chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He was appointed to the post a day earlier.
His name was approved by the committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31 May 2021. The post of NHRC chairman was vacant for the past few days. Former Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Mahesh Kumar Mittal and former Director of IB Dr Rajeev Jain have been made members of NHRC.
सुप्रीम कोर्ट के रिटायर्ड जस्टिस अरुण कुमार मिश्रा ने हाल ही में राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग (एनएचआरसी) के नए अध्यक्ष के रूप के पद पर चुने गए। उन्हें एक दिन पहले ही इस पद के लिए नियुक्त किया गया था।
31 मई 2021 को प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता वाली समिति ने उनके नाम को मंजूरी दी थी. एनएचआरसी के अध्यक्ष का पद पिछले कुछ दिनों से खाली था. जम्मू कश्मीर हाई कोर्ट के पूर्व चीफ जस्टिस महेश कुमार मित्तल और आईबी के पूर्व निदेशक डॉ राजीव जैन को एनएचआरसी का सदस्य बनाया गया है.
