Nepal’s Supreme Court overturned the decision of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and ordered the reinstatement of the Nepali Parliament. The Nepali parliament was dissolved on 20 December last year by President Bidya Deb Bhandari on the recommendation of PM KP Oli.

After the dissolution of Parliament on 20 December 2020, the Supreme Court has cancelled the decisions taken by Prime Minister Oli and all appointments made in various constitutional bodies.
Nepal’s top court has expressed its displeasure over Oli’s decision and issued a show-cause notice seeking an answer from the government. This notice states that the government should submit a written explanation on its decision to abruptly dissolve Parliament.
The alliance of CPN-UML led by KP Sharma Oli and the NCP (Maoist Center) led by Prachanda merged after the victory in the 2017 general elections and unified Nepal Communist Party was formed in May 2018.

(सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने 20 दिसंबर 2020 को संसद भंग होने के बाद प्रधानमंत्री ओली द्वारा लिए गए फैसलों ओर विभिन्न संवैधानिक निकायों में की गई सभी नियुक्तियों को रद्द कर दिया गया है |)
(नेपाल की शीर्ष अदालत ने ओली के इस फैसले पर भी नाराजगी जताते हुये कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी करके सरकार से जवाब मांगा है | इस नोटिस में कहा गया है कि वह संसद को अचानक भंग करने के अपने निर्णय पर सरकार एक लिखित स्पष्टीकरण प्रस्तुत करें |)
