South Eastern Railway starts Operation Meri Saheli

Recently the South Eastern Railway (SER) has started the project “Operation Meri Saheli”, which is to increase the safety of women passengers from the train going to its destination during the entire journey.

About Operation My Saheli:

Since 18 September 2020, the pilot version of the project “Operation My Saheli” has been launched in 3 trains: Howrah-Yeshwantpur Duronto Special, Howrah-Ahmedabad Special and Howrah-Mumbai Special. “Operation Meri Saheli” is executed under the framework of “Nirbhaya Fund” and no additional expenses are paid by the head of the Railways.

Features of Operation My Saheli:

  • The team of women sub-inspectors briefed the women passengers about safety precautions and gave emergency contact numbers.
  • The team will collect information such as seat numbers and contact information of women passengers and will be in touch during the journey.
  • The collected information will be routed to the stations at destination and scheduled stops.
