Answer Highlights :- Current affairs: 05 June 2020

(1) 04 June
Every year on June 4, the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression means International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Violence around the world. The day reflects the commitment of the United Nations to protect the rights of children. This day is celebrated around the world to acknowledge the pain caused to children who have suffered physical, mental and emotional abuse. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to spread awareness about the pain and suffering suffered by the victims children.

(2) VN Dutt
Virendra Nath Dutt, the marketing director of National Fertilizers Limited-NFL, has been given the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of the company. He will replace Manoj Mishra.

(3) Ministry of Information and Broadcasting 
An e-booklet titled ‘One Year of Modi 2.0 – Towards a Self-Reliant India’ has been released by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B). This e-booklet highlights the achievements of the second term of the Modi government. It marks the first anniversary of the government’s second term.

(4) 1.5 Crore
The Government of India has launched a campaign to provide Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to 1.5 crore dairy farmers. Under this campaign, the Government of India will provide Kisan Credit Cards to 1.5 crore dairy farmers within the next two months i.e. from 1 June to 31 July 2020. The Kisan Credit Card will be provided to dairy farmers associated with milk unions and milk producing companies.

(5) Actor
Legendary filmmaker and National Film Award winner Basu Chatterjee passed away. He was known for films like “Chhoti Baat” and “Rajinigandha”. Apart from this, he also directed two famous TV serials “Byomkesh Bakshi” and “Rajni”.

(6) Patrick Pichet
Twitter has appointed former Google chief financial officer Patrick Pichet as the new chairman of its board. He will replace Omid Kordestani. Pichet joined Twitter’s board of directors in 2017 and was a key independent director since late 2018. Prior to this, he served as Google’s CFO from 2008 to 2015. This will be the first time in the history of Twitter when an outsider presides over the board.

(7) Uday Kotak,
MD and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, has taken over as the President of Confederation of Indian Industry for the year 2020-21. He has been replaced by Vikram Kirloskar, President and MD, Nitukti Kirloskar System as the President of CII.

(8) Krishnendu Majumdar
Emmy Award winning television producer Krishnendu Majumdar has been appointed as the new president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). He is the first black person to be elected as the president of BAFTA in the 73-year history of BAFTA. He will replace Pippa Harris, who will now continue serving as deputy chairperson. 

(9) China
The United States issued an order on June 3, 2020 seeking suspension of passenger flights from China starting from June 16, 2020. The move has been taken in retaliation to China’s refusal to let US airlines resume flights to China.

(10) UK
India is set to take part in the Global Vaccine Summit alongside more than 50 nations and associations. The UK-drove virtual Global Vaccine Summit will be facilitated by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on June 4, 2020.

(11) Pakistan and china
An understanding was marked among China and Pakistan to execute the Kohala Hydroelectric Power venture in the district of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. The undertaking is being executed under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

(12) Davos
The 51st yearly highest point of the World Economic Forum will be held in Davos, Switzerland under the subject ‘The Great Reset’. The highest point has been named as ‘a one of a kind Twin Summit’.
